There is an asus p4p800 board, there is no sound, I tried a bunch of everything, installed different drivers, soundmax is suitable, the drivers themselves are installed, but there is no sound, everything is on in the BIOS, services are running, there are no unidentified devices, but there is no sound, they write about some on the forums jumpers and refer to some manuals, but there is no manual anywhere and no one explains where these jumpers are. turned off the front panel no sound, instead of the panel put jumpers no sound. everything is connected everything is installed, where did the sound go?
Worth windows xp sp3. doesn't complain about anything. what could be the problem?
Another thing, when you touch the contacts on the motherboard that are responsible for the sound with your fingers, a response appears in the speakers, but when we connect the front panel to these contacts, there is no sound, if you simply leave the contacts disconnected, there is no sound either.

I seem to have had it once. He listened to the music player, suddenly the sound wheezed and disappeared. Just struggled for a long time trying to figure out what's what. I came to the conclusion that the sound controller on the motherboard was dead. I went to a nearby store, bought a pci-e sound card for 1000 rubles. Everything worked.

Jumpers on the motherboard will only change active ports from front to back or vice versa. Just check the headphones on the front panel and on the back, if both do not work there, the problem is not in the jumpers. Install native firewood. Most likely the amplifier on the motherboard burned out. Install a PCI sound card, it's very inexpensive now
