Why is the website cache growing?

Until last night, the cache size was fine. Today, for the second time, I observe the situation that the cache size exceeds 15GB and it occupies all available disk space. Perhaps if there were more space, the cache would take it too.
Tell me, please, what could be the reason for this behavior?
