Why is the sound noticeably worse on Ubuntu than on Windows?

I installed Xubuntu on an HP laptop parallel to Windows.
Faced with the fact that the sound in YouTube and desktop applications on Ubuntu is noticeably worse.
Both systems are freshly installed, ie. it's not about the settings (they are standard there and there)
What could be the reason for this? Driver, what else?

"Parallel to Windows" could be the reason.
Windows likes to cheat with sound registers during reboots so that on some models, when rebooting into Lin, the sound does not work at all.
It is required to cut down Windu, and even remove the battery in order to reset all sound settings to factory settings.

It's about the drivers. At one time, I also had a laptop from HP, and two operating systems were also installed at the same time, but the sound suffered on Linux. No matter how much I tried to fix it, poking around in the OS itself and in the drivers, nothing worked.
In general, what is the peculiarity of all Linux distributions, that if you put it on your laptop, and something doesn’t work there, out of the box, so to speak, then you are out of luck, you don’t even have to try to fix it.

Most likely something with the drivers, I had this on HP, installed Ubuntu and Mangaro, the sound was very quiet, I did not find a solution (it was normal on Windows), as a result, I changed the laptop to Xiaomi, installed the same Ubuntu and all the rules.

You did not disclose the definition of "noticeably worse", it is not clear what you are talking about.
In general, Ubuntu has a very resource-efficient default settings in pulseaudio. Those. the sound out of the box is nasty.
resample-method = copy try
hifi-audio.ru/archives/3732
After changing the config, just turning it off and running the pulse in the terminal did not help me, I had to restart the computer. I later read that the pulse needs to be reloaded this way, but did not check in practice /usr/bin/pasuspender /bin/true
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/PulseAudio/Tr...
But for starters, in order not to pick the configs and not reboot ahead of time, you can try changing the output module in the settings in the Audacious player to Alsa and generally tinkering with the sound settings. To do this, turn off all other sounding programs, because Alsa captures the audio card exclusively and if it is not free, it will throw out a warning and will not start. The player can be different, I just listen through it and I know that it allows you to configure it. Clement, for example, no. A dead cow from memory can, too.
In general, I personally tune music players to alsa, not pulsa due to the fundamental lack of confidence in the pulse. So that they do not conflict due to exclusive access, I use pasuspender.
If Alsa also sucks sounds, then at least eliminate glitches pulses. Also a big deal. But what is your problem is still unknown. it is very vaguely defined. "noticeably worse." Write if changing the pulse settings helped and in general, when you find a solution, what was the matter) You
can also dig deeper with firewood. Try a proprietary driver download if available. I'm on minta, I don't know how it is in ubuntu.

Linux is not friendly with laptops. Most often, video cards, standby mode (sleep), network cards are buggy (especially wifi likes to fall after updates).
Linux is not suitable for a laptop.
