Why is the response change notification checkbox enabled by default?

Good afternoon.
In general, the essence of the question is in the title.
I will only add: it is obvious that many do not notice it (or do not want to notice it?) And a situation is created when in notifications there is one notification about the answer and a dozen (literally) notifications about changing the answer.
At the same time, the answers, as a rule, usually do not change THAT much, so that it would be worth notifying all signatories and the vehicle about each change. Most often, spelling is changed and words are changed in places.
Therefore, I repeat the question, for what reason is the checkbox enabled by default? Maybe I'm not understanding something or I'm thinking wrong?
Thanks for the replies.

It is obvious that the authors of the site assumed that edits would be rare and significant more often than vice versa. What other answer would you like to hear?
I also got sick of shooting it every time, I’ll write it on the list for revision, but don’t count on anything too much - this list has been gathering dust for the second year already.

@riky

logical flaw
of the toaster, if one notification about changing the answer hangs in unread, then a new one cannot be added.
