Why is the python console working weird in my pycharm?

Perhaps something is wrong with me, but I am very confused in the python console by the fact that I am offered to enter the text not immediately after the text (because the code clearly says "input (enter x, y)"), but on the next line and after the weird >? (see image). Is there something wrong with me or with the IDE?

1. Not IDLE but IDE as it is a separate product. PyCharm is exactly the IDE.
2. I have the same, whatever that means. I guess this is normal IDE behavior.
