Why is the network (mask) not visible?

Why doesn't the 192.168.0.0/23 network see the 192.168.1.0/24 network?
If I understand correctly, the /23 mask should cover the range 192.168.1.0
The network should be from 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.255, why is that?

For communication to be two-way, it is necessary that "visibility" was in the opposite direction, and in your case 192.168.1.0/24 "does not see" (in your terms) 192.168.0.0/23. Those. when you send a ping from 192.168.0.0/23, it goes "there", but cannot return "back".

devices like 192.168.1.2/23 will access 192.168.1.5/24 directly. And those, in turn, answer them through the gateway. It's hard for me to imagine a gateway that has a route to both 192.168.0.0/23 and 192.168.1.0/24
