Why is the message run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/mlocate exited with return code 1 coming?

Hello!
I am using Proxmox 4.2.2.
For the last few days, every morning, an email with the text comes to the admin mail

run-parts: /etc/cron.daily/mlocate exited with return code 1

When manually running updatedb.mlocate I get

updatedb.mlocate: `/var/lib/mlocate/mlocate.db' is locked (probably by an earlier updatedb)

There is no mlocate in the list of processes. /var/lib/mlocate contains only mlocate.db and mlocate.db.i4vnfI files. The *.lock file is not there.
How to overcome the error?

Demolish mlocate to hell, because no one uses it.apt-get remove mlocate
