Why is the clipping mask not working in Photoshop?

I want to put a green image in a black circle by creating a clipping mask, but I ran into a problem while doing it - the mask does not work, although I did not notice such problems before.
My course of action is this:
Place the green image layer above the black circle layer, right click on it and select "Create Clipping Mask". But nothing happens, although the corresponding arrow icon appears, the picture simply disappears in an unknown direction (see screenshots).

Drop the psd and I'll take a look.
Maybe the blend mode or transparency was not checked

This is because the "Color overlay" effect has been applied to the black circle.
