Why is PHP so popular?

Explain why "Php dev." there are more jobs on job search sites than there are jobs in other languages, such as java. In terms of popularity, php is not in the first place, for example, according to this review dou.ua/lenta/articles/language-rating-jan-2014/?fr... , but is there a shortage of php programmers?

This is a consequence of his indispensability in the past.
Puff appeared at the right time in the right place, when the clearing was not yet occupied by anyone.
Or rather, I was busy with a pearl - a utility for parsing text like awk, which, of course, is not at all enough to write full-fledged applications. As a result, pearl as a means of web development was strangled in a couple of years, and there was no one else - no one had heard of python and ruby, M$'s craft was even worse. Java simply did not fit on the servers of that time. And there was only one php. So he occupied the entire niche, and the abbreviation LAMP became synonymous with web development.
Actually, since then, various technologies have been slowly eating away its share, but the puff is kept at the expense of the accumulated mass and ecosystem. And it will last for a long time - because it doesn’t stand still: despite the fact that most of the toaster’s clients write in the same PHP that gained popularity in the last century (because they can’t master anything more complicated than the classic shit code), modern puff provides modern development tools and themes who has an understanding of programming.

Because the language is practical and solves the problems that business faces. Often solves faster and cheaper, faster and cheaper to maintain than the same Java. Why be surprised?

there is a set of conditions that depend on each other. PHP and Java development require different budgets. A good Java developer is expensive and initially small firms decide to organize development in PHP. If the office is successful, then further development is rarely accompanied by a change in the development platform.

PHP is easy to learn, hosting projects is simple, a huge number of ready-made solutions and the largest community

PHP and JAVA, C#, C++, Delphi are tools that you need to know where and what to use.
There are places where PHP will be the best solution and vice versa.
Why are more PHP programmers needed?
1. There are still many projects where PHP is used and they will not disappear most of the time, as new programmers come in who study PHP from the beginning, and then something else.
2. When creating a new project, the project manager thinks about who is easier to replace a PHP programmer or, for example, Java. PHP programmers can be found quickly, but Java is harder. So they stop at PHP
3. The popularity has subsided ..., well, it's just that PHP's popularity was diluted with other languages that have entered everyday life)

Because you need the most shitty site riveters, because everyone needs their own shitsite LLC "Horns and Hooves". Shit sites == free CMS + cheap shared hosting. Almost all more or less developed CMS are written in PHP. All cheap shared hostings support PHP. In addition, it is very easy to learn.

I would also add that, given the popularity of the language, it is full of all sorts of CMS. Why invent a new wheel when the old one is not bad, and the tuning catalog is gigantic.
Moreover, it is often enough to know the basis of the language, which is enough to write / edit plugins. The same node will certainly be faster, but in 90% of cases this performance is not needed at all.

Javasts are the last century. PHP is popular for two reasons: 1. At one time it replaced the inconvenient Perl and ASP. 2. Used to write the backend of the Web, which is now growing.

It's simple: users are gradually moving from computers to portable devices, for which the web is an excellent cross-platform pad, and by the way, this is why most of the resources that appear today are the web, from contact to all sorts of instagrams. Users just love to sit in the internet. Well, PHP is great for this, as it was originally created for the web, it is also very easy to understand and master (no more than two years for a senior) due to some of its features. By the way, just because of its popularity, it is now developing even sometimes faster than some other previously popular languages ...

PHP is a snowball. It rolls and gets bigger. But the problem is that it rolls down the mountain. And in addition, it has almost reached its critical mass, at which it will begin to fall apart on the go.
Many people think that the RNR will be around for many years to come. Dare to give a different prediction. PHP will be swept out of the market so quickly that you won't have time to change your mind. In 2-3 years, he will lose more than half of his mass. It may not be fast for you, but for me it is lightning fast.
Technology is developing so fast now that if you look back where we were just 3 years ago, you might be surprised. After all, there was no Angular or Node yet. And today it seems that they have been for ten years. The sensation of time is very false now.
Javascript is also a snowball. But now he is being rolled up the mountain. And to be honest, in June of next year, the RNR lump flying from the mountain and the Javascript lump crawling uphill will intersect. This means that although the scale will still be on the side of PHP's hulk, the altitude column will be on the side of Java Script.

Justify why PHP is going downhill and not down the road and how popularity (com) is related to the failure of the language (collapse)
