What about openvpn and localhost?
Do you need to connect to the server via openvpn to connect to localhost? firstly, your project should listen not to localhost but to 0.0.0.0 or at least the ip address in the network that openvpn picks up and by the way, the launch of a project that listens to ports should occur after openvpn is started, since 0.0.0.0 binds only the addresses available at that moment
