Why is odt heavier than docx?

I use LibreOffice 4.3 and noticed that when you save a document in .odt format, it weighs almost 5 times more than in .docx format. Why such a big difference?
Details:
docx (~16000 characters) = 15.5 kb
odt (~16000 characters) = 96.6 kb
The document contains only text.

Because libreoffice is free software. By the way, compare not with .docx but with .doc format, you will feel the difference.
.docx - a format developed relatively recently - in 2010, just in order to optimize the old .doc format

@Ranwise

perhaps fonts are embedded in the file, or pictures are not optimized \ compressed
odt \ docx - zip container, look at what parts take up space ...
