Why is MySQL not working?

Hello. A couple of days ago I thought to raise a web server on a virtual box, but alas, I did not find normal documentation for dummies.
I decided to just raise apache + MySQL on the locale and that's all.
Everything is ok with Apache, but MySQL says that either the server is not responding, or the access is closed with few rights (went as root) I just want to throw the iMac out of the window ** ***, so help solve the problem, or advise something for those who are not very advanced (xammp is not needed, in the last there will be a rise of Phalcon on the locale).

Install MAMP PRO

I agree! try vagrant and puphpet
and if you need to raise it quickly, then yes ... Mamp will help you
