Why is flask.ext not being imported?

Imports of this kind do not work: Throws an error ImportError No module named flask.ext But if you write from flask_bootstrap import Bootstrap, then everything is imported normally. I have Flask 1.0.2 installed.
from flask.ext.bootstrap import Bootstrap
