Why is Firebug behaving so strangely

Firefox 9.0.1 + Firebug 1.9.0 and the result in the picture:

In chrome, the same space and the content of the head is placed in the body. Who had similar anomalies, please tell

In your template file (before <doctype), the first characters are BOM (a sign of UTF-8 document encoding), resave the document as just UTF-8 (without BOM), then the problem will disappear.

You can use e.g. Notepad++ to remove the BOM. Sometimes the presence of a BOM is visible by a square (like non-displayable characters) that appears in the HTML code.
