Why is disk slow in VirtualBox/Docker?
I installed docker toolbox on win7 - on two laptops. One powerful, 12GB of memory, ssd. The second is simpler - 6GB of memory, hdd;
The debian + php (7.1) container is loaded into the docker, it works quite fast on the second (weak) laptop. On the first one, I see such a picture, immediately after the start of the container, the
processes hang in an uninterrupted sleep (D) for 10 minutes, everything works very slowly or does not work at all (for example, the web server - Gateway Timeout). After some time (10 minutes), the processes exit D to normal mode, but still the work is noticeably slower than on a "weak" laptop.
I tried different types of acceleration/virtualization with the doker virtual machine in virtualbox, changed the disk from dynamic to fixed, changed disk formats - vmdk/vdi. Moved disk file from ssd to hdd.
Nothing helps.
All processes that hang in D communicate with the fs of the host system, everything that does not write to the outside works well. That is why I sin on the disk, but perhaps the matter is different.
Perhaps someone overcame such a problem?
