Why is data lost after a PC crash?

The video recording software is installed on the server. The machine froze and had to be restarted. After that, most of the video archive disappeared. I tried to reproduce this situation (press reset) and encountered the fact that after turning on windows, it overwrites some fragments. Why does this OS do it?? How can this be resolved?

And what about the OS? And yes, the question is weird. This is a video recording software, and the name is not specified. What does it have to do with overwriting if the data is lost? Of course, in secret I can say that the data is always overwritten. In order not to exhaust the space on the screw. Further, my tambourine will not be able to help. And I don’t practice fortune-telling on coffee grounds.

Probably worded it wrong. After freezing and subsequent launch, the recorded archive simply disappears

What are you doing that makes your computer freeze?

Yes, we do nothing. Just reproducing the crash. It is possible that the user pulled out the socket, or the computer hung tightly. The problem is that the archive is lost after such actions.
