Why is data being deleted in Android Studio?

When I start the emulator or exit Android Studio, all code is deleted in XMl files or Java files and incomprehensible icons appear instead, for example: 3 l ? g? i? j? ?abc_action_bar_title_item? ?I? ConstantValue??
Why does this happen and how to avoid it?
