Why is an empty json file being generated?

Problem with composer. I downloaded the bootloader from the site ( https://getcomposer.org/doc/00-intro.md ), installed it. In cmd I went to the project folder and called the init command, then everything was as usual, I missed that what was possible, indicated the author, found the library I needed (in this case it was yii) with index [0] and version dev-master) found everything, the question arose about generating composer.json? wrote yes, composer.json was created, but empty..

Write composer.json by hand, there is nothing complicated, but everything will be under control
