Why is 504 Gateway Time-out returned via browser?

When making a request to the server (by ip or domain, it doesn't matter) through the browser, 504 Gateway Time-out (nginx) is returned, but through it it curlworks fine 200 Ok.
What could be the problem and how to deal with it?
Increasing the response limit does not help.

curldoes not load any external resources, only the page code itself. Look at the error logs of the web server and what you have behind it (PHP, etc.).
