Why is 4k video slow?

If it's not about the internet, then it's about the process.
How exactly does a video of this format load the percent, and does it make sense to watch video in 2-4k on a macbook, where the maximum resolution is 1200 by 700?

There is no point in looking at a <= 1080 monitor, especially a MacBook, which is probably 13 inches or less. You definitely won't notice the difference. (If these files are on your computer).
If 4K is on YouTube, then there is a point. And now I'll tell you why:
- When you upload a video to YouTube, it is still processed / compressed by them. For each resolution, they have an allowed bitrate. So, if this is 4K, then it seems to be BPR of 50,000,000, Unlike 1080p, where there is only 8,000,000. Accordingly, if there is too much action in the picture and you need more bitrate, then no matter how hard you try, YouTube will cut your video and quality along with it.
Therefore, even emulation in 4K specifically for YouTube and similar video services makes sense. By emulation, I mean re-rendering a 1080p video to supposedly 4k resolution. It was 1080 as it was and will be 1080, but YouTube will perceive it as 4K and skip the bitrate up to 50 lyams.
ps In order not to lag, look towards the video cards. Although it seems that the new generation of processors already has built-in residual power in order to play 4k without lags.
