I updated the system, after rebooting I got a black screen with a non-blinking cursor in the upper left corner. Who faced?

Boot the system from the DVD (knoppix, ubuntu, backtrack have this option out of the box), mount the / partition to /mnt, chroot it and fix grub/lilo.

I reinstalled the system and now I make backup copies before important updates!
