Why doesn't the community token fit vk_api?

Hello, I wanted to create a bot for my VK group, but when writing the bot, there was a problem with the fact that the bot does not respond to messages, after that I came across the ._check_token function to check if the token is suitable, it didn’t suit me, in general, why is it does not fit, and where to make a suitable one?
