Why doesn't setterm-inator return?

It is necessary to turn off the extinguished monitor if there is no activity.
And it's done like this:

setterm -blank o
setterm -powersave off
setterm -powerdown 0

However! Plug:
server ~ # setterm -powersave off
setterm: cannot (un)set powersave mode: Invalid argument

Help me figure out what's wrong?

@iandriyanov

Run setterm on the tty wherever you want to disable it.
for X:
xset -dpms
