Why doesn't redirect work when I type /999?

Good afternoon, there is a site.ru/catalog page, if you write site.ru/catalog/999, then the site does not show that there is no such page, it just reloads the same page and displays the content of the catalog page, but you can enter site.ru/catalog/ asd then the site shows normally, 404 Not Found , the site is made on wordpress, v. 4.9.8, plugins include Elementor + Elementor pro, Custom Content Shortcode, Virtual Robots.txt, Webcraftic Cyrlitera and XML Sitemap & Google News, Astra Theme. How to make /any-numbers jump to 404 page?
