Why does VKontakte use long-polling and not WebSocket?
As you know, VK has its own PHP implementation - more nimble, but nevertheless, this is how many requests need to be processed. Aren't sockets the best solution? Or in the context of their workload, LP is better?

They have a lot of servers.
They do everything with difficulty, for example, they waited for almost a year to remove investment limits for bots, and they received them a month ago and something like a crutch. I do not think that in the next year or two there will be something other than longpoll and callback for groups.
