Why does this error happen (git pull origin master)?

OS Ubuntu x64.
When a bullet git pull origin msaterhappens such an incomprehensible error:

I fix it with CTRL + C and then restart the terminal.
How and with what is it fixed?

rm -f .git/MERGE_MSG
