Why does the screen brightness flies to a minimum on a Sony laptop?
Good evening, friends! Faced a very strange phenomenon, I'll tell you how it was. Installed Windows 7 on a Sony Vaio VPCS111FM laptop. The driver for the video card, as usual, did not get up, because of which the screen brightness was at its maximum and there was no slider for adjusting it, as usual. Previously, on other laptops, a similar problem was solved quickly by installing a video card driver.
But this time I'm seeing something strange. After installing the official Intel(R) HD Graphics driver recommended by both Sony and Intel, the screen brightness dropped to a minimum. By the screen resolution, you can immediately see that the driver sat down evenly, and there was also a slider for adjusting the screen brightness. Moving the slider in the Power Options sectionWell, it does not affect the brightness of the screen in any way.
I thought the problem was in the system itself. Demolished Ultimate x64 and replaced it with Professional x64 version. But everything repeated again: first, maximum brightness, and after the driver - the minimum, not responding to the adjustment slider. The Sony Console system utility is not supported by this computer.
On the laptop itself, there is a Windows 7 sticker, which means that the system is factory preset. So the "seven" should lie exactly on the laptop, but something goes wrong. What to do, where to dig? I don’t even know, it’s been like this for several days at a dead end, but things are still there ...

It's about the drivers, you need to install from the manufacturer's website and do not update the driver from the auto update.
Same issue on lenova laptops.
In short, you need to look for the correct driver for the video card
