Why does the Oracle connection library weigh so much?

Needed to connect to Oracle. I can't understand why to connect to the same PG, a lib weighs several megabytes, and for Oracle you need to download some kind of horror for almost 1GB.
Questions:
1. Why such dimensions?
2. Maybe there is an easier way? To me only Select to make.
