Why does the distance distance calculator only work on the chrome browser on a PC Does it not work on mobile browsers?

I downloaded the code for the distance calculation program on google maps api. Works only in Chrome browser on PC. On other browsers, neither auto search nor calculation works. It also does not work from mobile phones in any of the browsers.
