Why does Sublime Text 2 cost $59?

Sublime Text 2 was recently released ( habr ).
As you know, you can use the unregistered version until you get tired of programming (at least the second version).
But, if you want to purchase a license, it will cost $59. What perks do you get for this money? According to the website , none.
Now actually question number 1. Why do this? As I see it, in order to get more people hooked on it, and from the 3rd version it is already voluntarily forcibly forced to buy it.
Question number 2. Why set the price at $59? How many people will pay $59? And how much would it pay if the price was $5 or $10? More authors write, the license is suitable only for the 1st and 2nd versions, and when switching to the 3rd one, you need to pay separately (again $59?).
What do the hackers think about this?
PS There is another version about a kind of "trojan". They say the program merges the source code to third-party servers. But this is from the category of paranoia. Although the tested version...

competitive products cost no less. I am stopped by the fact that literally in December I bought Coda. And it cost me $110 through the AppStore. I think by the autumn I will suppress this desire and pay for ST2.
And yes, I am willing to pay for a convenient tool with which I make money.

A counter question: why did you decide that you can consider other people's money for someone else's work and think about what and how much should cost?

What do the hackers think about this?
On this occasion, I personally think that to use or not to use is a fairly simple and obvious choice.

For the same reason, taxi drivers at railway stations do not ride for $10 but ride for $30, although the cost of gasoline is $1 for the trip. At least someone will go anyway. In any case, the product is not bad, and there will be people who will buy it, it’s not for nothing that they appointed such an amount, so everyone calculated + the fewer people, the less technical support (I hope it is included in the price?). There are no fools there either.

I didn’t leak anything anywhere :) I’m
not ready to pay $ 59 for Sublime Text. Ready in the region of 20-30, no more, because. it's not the main tool.

Judging by the style of the site, the developers are clearly a fan of makos, and maybe the editor was originally for it. And if that's the case, then it's not surprising. Mac OS software is famous for its exorbitant prices.

I think they just took the price of their competitor - Textmate, and lead people away from buying the second version, those who have not yet bought.

Don't want to pay? Try analogues, fortunately, there are plenty of them: vim, emacs, geany, medit, nano, kate, gedit, notepad++, textmate…

Sublime is a shareware program and you do not have to pay. Your K.O.

They probably thought over their model well, but at first glance, it would be better to make either any price (ala donate) or several price options with different just nice buns that would more determine the gratitude to the developer than the real price :)
But in any case, I think they know what they are doing.

If you use it as a working tool and make money with it, I don't understand what could be the problem. The cost of a great editor is equal to the cost of layout of one page of the site. Yes, from the very first commercial project I bought a license and do not worry.

The question is something else. Why buy it if buying a license does not add any additional features to it? In fact, the purchase in this case is simply Donate, but why put a fixed amount for this is not clear.
