Why does safari show strange characters instead of numbers?

Good day, gentlemen.
On my site, javascript puts a number in the select, but that's bad luck - safari displays them as hell. Hieroglyphs, in a word.
Moreover, if you select a symbol, then everything falls into place.
So it goes.
What can be done about it?
