Why does osX take longer to download files from the server than Windows?

There is a local network, there is a server with Open Media Vault in it, and when opening network folders through Mac mini, files, in particular photos, take longer to load than from a Windows laptop. I tried different options on devices with cable and wi-fi, but the picture did not change. When opening a folder on OSX, it remains empty until all photo thumbnails are loaded. On Windows, this is faster. I tried to connect with osX and via AFP and SMB, but the situation did not change (((
