Why does my Google Chrome testing work without Selenium? Why install Selenium?

Hello. I have downloaded chromedriver and codeception. I write tests and everything works fine. But I read articles that you need to install Selenium as well. Why install it if everything works for me without it?

Your code can't work with JavaScript
i.e. it can't wait, work with dynamic content, krch can't work with any SPA and any dynamic
data although it can be clicked through the selector
How do you work with it without a web driver?
How about working with other browsers? For example Firefox
