Why does it redirect to an old link to a non-existent site?

Made a static page, page name was: *****.github.com. Accordingly, everything worked. . I decided to change it, added a CNAME file (with the name ****.com), then I needed to delete the CNAME (did not work), deleted it, the message in the settings "Your site is published at http://***.github.io. " (that is, the old working address) - when I try to go to it, I am thrown back to ***.com, which I indicated earlier in the CNAME file - Well, the page does not load accordingly. And if you specify https://**.github.io in the address , then everything works.
What am I doing wrong?

Somewhere they registered a redirect and did not clean the file after that, now there is a redirect to the old domain.
