Why does "git log" give the path to The Bat instead of mail?

In the examples, I seem to look at all the format like this:

commit 911e8c91caeab8d30ad16d56746cbd6eef72dc4c
Author: Alexander Shvets <[email protected]>
Date:   Wed Mar 9 10:27:54 2011 -0500

    First Commit

Although the user.mail variable is normally set for me - there is mail.

Your email address to be recorded in any newly created commits. Can be overridden by the GIT_AUTHOR_EMAIL, GIT_COMMITTER_EMAIL, and EMAIL environment variables.
