Why does ftp slow down

Hello habrausers.

Faced such a problem: when connecting to the ftp server "A", everything is fine, there is a problem with the server "B". The problem is this: the process of connecting and listing directories takes a very long time, I generally keep quiet about file transfer. From another PC on the same network, the connection and transmission are normal.

There are no firewalls or antiviruses. FTP mode - passive (tried active - to no avail). FileZilla client. TC is the same story. Through the command line - the same way. OS - Windows Vista (work PC).

What else could be the problem?

PS: If you make a mistake with the hub, don't kick too hard.

Are you using a proxy server to access the Internet? If yes, then first of all you need to check whether the client uses a proxy server for server A and server B to connect and configure it the same way. In addition, it is worth looking into "Internet Options" - "Connections" - "Network Settings" - "Advanced" whether the checkbox "Use one proxy server for all protocols" is checked. These settings are picked up by most modern programs.

Perhaps resolving is not turned off in the FTP server settings.
And it turns out that when a client connects, the server freezes until it allows the client's IP.
But without logs, at least from the client, it is impossible to talk about something specific.
In the same FileZill, you can open the connection window and send text here (after indicating where it slows down).

Try the ip-address of this server in the FTP server settings...
The VDS itself had the same problem... added the following to the config:
UseIPv6 off
IdentLookups off
DefaultAddress ip-address
DefaultServer on
UseReverseDNS off Helped
me...
Helped...

With us, FTP often slows down due to the fact that the devices cannot agree on the speed with the switch. Those. auto-negotiation is set on one, on the other - 10Mbps full duplex - it slows down terribly. It helps to explicitly specify the speed on all machines.
