Why does authentication fail if there is more than 1 server in the farm?

Application Request Routing extension.
With 1 server enabled, authentication runs smoothly. If you enable at least 1 more - when you click the login button, the page is updated and the fields are cleared

Usually this happens if there is a session on one server and not on the other.
