Why does a recumbent green robot appear when flashing Nexus 5?

I put root rights, unlocked the bootloader, now I want to install custom Cataclysm firmware , but when I try to enter recovery mode , a recumbent green robot appears with a red exclamation mark above its belly.

I also don’t install a regular update on Nexus, it downloads and reboots and ... a green robot with an exclamation point. Everything would be fine, but as soon as he sees the Internet he tries to download the update and install it with an invariably negative result.
I'm not going to change everything.
