Why does a programmer need discrete mathematics?

Why does a programmer need discrete mathematics? Is that the graphs, and the rest, why? I studied for a whole year and I can’t imagine the application of all this in programming.

But what about Boolean algebra, combinatorics, automata theory, formal grammars? These are also all branches of discrete mathematics. If you do not imagine their application, then you have not yet come across really difficult tasks. Try, for example, to write the simplest html validator according to BNF rules.

Depends on what you mean by "programmer". If, for example, there is no need to code sites on Bitrix.
