Why do you need CentOS?
I installed here somehow on a centos laptop. I fiddled with Wi-Fi for a long time, but still started it in the end. In general, the distro is nothing like that, but, to be honest, I did not understand "why is it needed" if there is Fedora? The 22nd version of Fedora is stable as a rock (I don’t know about the 23rd version until I decided to switch). Software from the regular repository, and from third-party ones, too, is not enough. I did not find some software at all, at first (only then I googled something, I don’t understand from which repository ..) - aМule, cryptkeeper, for example. What is its need, benefit? What features does it have that are not in the same fedora? In Fedora, for example, everything is simple: I installed a distro, connected fusion and EVERYTHING, all the software, practically, "out of the box". In centos, I connected repositories 3-4, and then I didn’t find everything in them ... I’m generally silent about the gnome from centos: forget the path to extensions.gnome.com, because not a single add-on posted there supports the ancient gnome, and without such chips as desktop scrolling, a weather widget, a todo list and topicons, it becomes somehow sad ... Explain to me the advantages of CentOS. Only, if possible, please, without the words "stability", because. on fedora, in the back echelons of versions, everything is stable to no lesser extent. There may be bugs in new versions, but that's why they are new ...

centos is good for stability and longevity of support.
The 5th one just ended, the 6th feels good, the 7th is new.
I am sure that if I put the server on the 6th centos, then yum update will not break anything for me;)
CentOS is a server operating system. Fedora is an OS for home use.
CentOS is a version of RHEnterpriseLinux "liberated" from RedHat merchants
Fedora is an OS for "mere mortals" from RedHat on which domestic cats scratch their claws, comb out bugs together. The best then gets into the same RedHat, which in a year will "liberate" the CentOS community.
In my opinion, another stupid holivar,
What is better than Ubuntu or Debian?
What is better Tsentos or Fedora?
Going to the Centos forum, they will tell you that Centos is better.
Going to the Fedora forum, you will be told that Fedora is better.
You start not from the task, but from sophistry and statistics.
Millions of flies can't be wrong. :)
Take a problem and solve it.
What difference does it make which distribution? Though Debian, even Centos, even Winda, both there and there, the same tasks are solved.
play? Fedora, Ubuntu, Windows
Raise a web server? Centos, Debian.
Raise 1C server? Centos, Debian, Windows Server.
Raise Video surveillance? Centos, Debian, Windows.
This question is not objective at all.
Play toys on fedora and ubuntu, with steam. And tell your friends that you are a Linuxoid. and it's almost like a poppy.
Because as administrators, such questions do not arise :)))
it is needed for servers,
the benefit is that almost everything server is under centos + support for 7 years
Nothing that Fedora is a brood from Rad Hat and, accordingly, from CentOS. For reference: Development of Linux distributions
Well, for example, to deploy a Hadoop cluster. And all sorts of todo-lists and weather widgets are not needed there.
CentOS - for the server.
Fedora - for developers and testers of RHEL, it can be called a beta version of CentOS'a (changes from fedora go to RHEL, and RHEL is used as the base for CentOS).
In Fedora, for example, everything is simple: I installed a distro, connected fusion and EVERYTHING, all the software, practically, "out of the box".You are not using CentOS for its intended purpose.
