Why do open network filters periodically crash in the vipnet client?

For a couple of years, I periodically observe the following picture on 20 machines: open network filters in vipnet client 3.2 (under win 7 pro), introduced by me, disappear. Reset to default state.
Not smart enough to understand why. Tech support throws up its hands in surprise.
Colleagues, did someone meet / overcome such behavior?
