Why do I have problems loading my Outlook address book from LDAP?

1) About half a year ago I tried to set up the download of the address book in Outlook from domain users. Didn't work. There was an empty list.
I then understood that it was necessary to expand the scheme in order to write mail not to users, but to contacts.
2) Yesterday I do the same thing - it works. Without dancing with a tambourine, out of the box. The controller is the same, even the account for loading is the same. Moreover, I remember at my last job (about three years ago), the guy wrote a .net software that loads mail from domain users and drives it into the address book, precisely because of Outlook's incompatibility with LDAP under the standard scheme.

Does anyone understand what has changed?

PS: Updates are enabled on both controller and clients.
Exchange is not present and was not.

@2k21

I found this information
Why it should not work with LDAP
https://victor-sudakov.livejournal.com/124269.html //answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum... The biggest question, really. If you transfer all users to such a book, will it not fall off in another half a year? While I started a couple of test ones.
