Why do alias's stop working after terminal restart?

Added aliases to .bash_profile for bash, and aliases to common-aliases.plugin.zsh for zsh.
Aliases work after a source that executes commands from a file, after restarting the terminal, aliases need to be sourced again.
Can they be done once and for all?

Thanks to all! figured it out.
In .zshrc I added the path to common-aliases.plugin.zsh, and that's it.
