Why did the keyboard stop working in grub and how to fix it?

Here is such a story: I
inserted hdd into a PC, I wanted to see what was on it. Turned on the PC, selected in grub linux mint, but after the selection there was a black screen (i.e. the mint logo did not appear, as usual). I turned off the PC using the power button, and turned it on again. But this time (and in subsequent ones) the keyboard did not work (it was in grub, because it works), and the OC selection timeout increased from 10 seconds to 30 seconds. Help, please, I have win7 on default, and I can’t enter mint.

@sotvm

on old mothers, by default, the PS / 2 keyboard is installed, there
is only one option = take another ps / 2 keyboard, go into BIOS and switch to USB
, the timeout is edited in the file /etc/default/grab
GRUB_TIMEOUT=1
after changing the file,
run
sudo update grub
