Why did microsoft teams choose to write in Electron?

Hello.
I tested microsoft teams today - I saw all the same jambs as in Slack (memory and so on are also consumed). As a result, I found articles where it was said that it was also written in Electron.
Why did the small-soft ones decide to use electron rather than the .net platform to make everything work faster and better?

We wanted to move away from implementing each new feature multiple times in different code bases. We wanted to minimize duplication of effort. We explored a number of available options.
