Why did InkScape stop working?

I downloaded InkScape on linux mint, used the "create from contour interpolation" tool, everything worked fine, then it stopped working with primitives such as ellipse and rectangle, that is, it only works with curves. More precisely, only if at least one of the selected objects is a curve. That is, if both objects are not curves, then it no longer works. I booted into Windu, downloaded it there, but there, initially, this tool only worked with primitives. What to do?

The properties of the last object are saved there. They must have inserted a drawing. You need to draw a closed curve, fill it, copy it, and then assign properties to the shape. shift-ctrl-V.
