Why did gis open the editor on pull?

Hello! On my server, I used only one command in git - this is "git pull origin master" to get changes from the repository. At some point, I had to git commit on the server so as not to lose the files that I returned after an accidental deletion, and now after each call to "git pull origin master" I open an editor from which I need to exit with the :quit command. This didn't happen before. Tell me how to do the same as before... I entered the command "git pull origin master", entered the password and you're done, no editors?
