Why can't I restart the PostgreS server?

Dear professionals, tell me what I'm doing wrong: I compiled PosrgreS from the sources, initialized the cluster, started the server, checked that it was working. After stopping the server and rebooting the machine, I can not start it back. It gives the following error in the terminal: postgresql start can be found in the following packages... Moreover, the same applies to absolutely all commands related to PGSQL.
I change the user on postgres from the start of the system. Xubuntu 14.04
