Why are UEFI settings not saved on a laptop?

I'll start with the prehistory of the breakdown.
Given a Lenovo Ideapad Flex 10 laptop running OpenSuse Tumbleweed. A week ago, unfortunately, he survived a fall to the floor from a height of human growth and received minor cosmetic damage.
A day later, it turned out that the hard drive was badly damaged (more than 8 thousand bad blocks) and one of the partitions was badly damaged.
When trying to replace the screw, the following oddity with UEFI was also discovered:
1. Only 2 user settings are saved and no more: this is the date and time of the hardware clock and the password for accessing the hard drive. All other settings are not saved. Resetting to factory settings also does not change the settings.
2. The efibootmgr program cannot create, delete, modify and normally use entries in UEFI about the presence of a bootloader. When executing commands, an "Interupted system call" error occurs. As a result, UEFI cannot boot from a flash drive or find grub on a new hard drive and always tries to boot the old system.
There is a suspicion that the NVRAM board is damaged and it only allows you to read information, but not write it in any way. The following questions follow from this:
1. Is it possible to check if NVRAM has been corrupted (ala fsck)?
2. How can I be sure that these problems are caused by NVRAM?
