Why are the recommended DD-WRT firmwares dated back to 2010?

Both on the site and on the forum , the recommended DD-WRT firmware dates back to 2010, despite the fact that there are much more recent ones on FTP. If more than 2 years have not appeared stable versions, then what's the problem? Did the improvements (by the way, which ones) worsen the stability? I wanted to flash a new one, but at the same time I don’t want to get an unstable job or a brick.

Everything turns out to be even more interesting. Asus not only recognized DD-WRT , but released native firmware based on DD-WRT . Regularly updates and stuffs it with goodies .
Although the question remains. And what version of DD-WRT was taken by ASUS?

It is possible that it makes no sense to mess with outdated unsupported routers - for example, there are no updates to my asus 520gc with the latest firmware 14896 since the 10th year, and when it started to fail, I went to the latest 7x firmware from asus - the only negative is no mrtg and statistics sent / received information.
My next router will be asus rt nXX or linxis with gigabit ethernet ports and N protocol.
